Smiles took no time to develop on the faces of photographers and attendees at the opening program on Wednesday, April 27 for “Anti-COVID: Images from the Pandemic,” an exhibition of 16 photographs from CP Unlimited’s renowned Progressive Visions Photo Club. The exhibition will be on display at Metro Community Health Center (MCHC) at 979 Cross Bronx Expressway Service Rd., Bronx, NY 10460 through May 25, 2022.

The club, started in 1997 with cardboard disposable cameras, was founded by Jim Interlicchio at CP Unlimited and is designed to introduce individuals with I/DD to photography to build independence and creativity. Today, the innovative program has expanded to include professional equipment and has accumulated a long list of accolades, public gallery exhibits, and media coverage. There is simply no other program like it.

Attendees also heard from Dr. Rita Marie Bilello, CEO, and Nellie Santiago-Rivera, COO of MCHC, and several of the photographers themselves.

“This exhibit is about vision; that of our individuals and viewing the pandemic through their eyes--a perspective many have yet to see—and that of CP Unlimited who will always look to find new ways to help those we support live fulfilling lives. Part of how we advance that mission is cultivating initiatives like Progressive Visions, which offers a unique opportunity to enhance existing supports with artful and educational pursuits. Progressive Visions is truly a club that is at once inclusive and outpouring with creativity!” said Jeremy Willinger of CP Unlimited at the opening.
