CP Unlimited announces the retirement of our President Susan Constantino, effective July 1, 2022, after diligently serving our community for 33 years.

As President and CEO since 2004, Susan led programs and services operated by the organization in New York City as well as the state association, CP of NYS. She has worked tirelessly with legislative and governmental agencies to ensure that public policy had a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities and their families. Under Susan’s leadership, CP Unlimited sharpened its focus in advocating for and supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the greater New York Metro area.

Said CP Unlimited Board Chair Ross Levin: “Susan has managed innovation, growth and change through her compassionate and authentic leadership.  She has attracted staff and board who share her passion for the field and our organization’s mission. She has guided this organization through several reinventions, anticipating and responding to trends in the field as well as anticipating and addressing community needs. Our next CEO will have the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation Susan and her team have built over the years.”

Today, Susan is widely recognized as a thought leader in the field and currently serves on many governmental task forces, councils, and statewide committees to improve the lives of people with disabilities. Throughout her career, she received numerous national and state honors:  In 2020, the National Historical Recognition Project recognized Susan for her overall contribution to the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities through Public Policy.  This January, Senator John Mannion highlighted Susan’s many accomplishments on the floor of the New York State Senate in a special recognition, which you can watch here

In Susan’s own words, “I have had the honor to work with people with disabilities and their families and the most amazing staff throughout my whole career. Together we created programs and opportunities and changed public opinion and government responsibility.  Together we made a difference. UCP of NYS and the wonderful folks we support and my colleagues and staff who work tirelessly each day have been my inspiration and my love.”

From all of us at CP Unlimited: Thank you Susan for your many years of passion, insight, and leadership.
