CPU at Albany Rally Featuring Joseph M. Pancari
On an overcast Tuesday, the 100+ strong CPU team ventured to Albany, NY to demand more investment in the disability field and to speak with political leaders about the needs of the Agency and how they can do more to enhance our vital work.
Donning orange t-shirts and with high spirits, our cohort joined hundreds of additional demonstrators in the War Room at the NYS Capital Building to request a 7.8% Medicaid rate increase, adequate wages for human service workers, and enhanced capital funding to ensure quality care.
Some of the most compelling testimony was delivered by CPU President & CEO Joseph M. Pancari who discussed the needs of providers and how increased support will benefit persons with disabilities, direct care staff, and all throughout the state. His remarks are below in full:
CPU team members were also on hand to discuss the updated Traveling with Dignity Act (bill S.4042/A.6219) mandating height-adjustable adult changing tables in public venues by 2030 and we urge you to help us in these efforts.
