Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at CP Unlimited

We asked our CP Family: What does diversity mean to you and how does CP promote an environment of inclusivity?

Diversity has always been central to CP Unlimited, both as an organization that is reflective of the many cultures and backgrounds that make up the New York City area and in our mission to create opportunities for people with disabilities to achieve fulfilling lives. When you come to the organization, you will encounter a supportive and dedicated team that thinks of the people we support as family. The care they show is reflective of the inclusivity of our work to fully integrate our neighbors with intellectual and developmental disabilities into communities throughout the five boroughs and Hudson Valley. As an agency, we live our mission in the community we create for our CP Family. This includes creating a workforce reflective of the world, united by our work and the satisfaction earned by making a difference. Read a story on our new international recruitment program that has welcomed more than two-dozen professionals from across the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond to Hudson Valley to assist the people we support.

In 2020, CP Unlimited launched an internal D.E.I. Committee designed to help all employees bring their whole selves to work and educate our 2,500-strong CP Family on various holidays, celebrations, and cultural observances throughout the year. For our team members, this can be anything from a Chinese art lesson, a cooking class for Ramadan, or resources to help recognize Juneteenth. We strive to deepen cross-cultural understanding as it is the shared belief that only through compassion and exchange can we best deliver on the CP mission and support people with I/DD, while making our Agency a leading place to create a career with impact and meaning.
