Cutting the Ribbon on CPU’s Newest Day Hab Program
Dozens of officials and area leaders came out to celebrate CP Unlimited and cut the ribbon on the Agency’s newest and largest Day Hab program in the Hudson Valley.
Housed in a custom built, 10,000 square foot space at 400 Westage Business Center Drive in Fishkill, New York (across from our new offices at 300 Westage Business Center Drive), the space has 5 themed classrooms in which to learn and grow, a sensory room with all of the latest accessories and tools, a room for the M.O.V.E. (Mobility Opportunities Via Education/Experience) program that will help people with disabilities increase their mobility and independence, a changing area, hallways to accommodate wheelchairs and other specialized equipment, and integrated technology to make communication easier.
With walls festooned with inspirational quotes, artwork from participants, and imagery from CPU’s renowned photo club, the location is one where immense hope, possibility, strength, and dedication create true change in the lives of persons with disabilities.
Building on CPU’s commitment to innovation, the Day Hab program also hosts the Agency’s first robotic teaching assistant, designed to help people with I/DD deepen their vocabulary and speaking skills.
CP Unlimited thanks all of the folks who turned out to help hold a pair of scissors and wish us well, including Frank M. Castella, Jr. and the team from the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Sue Serino, Dutchess County Executive, Tony D’Aquanni, and representatives from the offices of Assembly Member Anil Beephan, Jr. and Senator Rob Rolison.
“This is more than four walls…it is the culmination of a vision,” said Penny Lynn Pagliaro, Executive Director of CP Unlimited- Hudson Valley “Our new Day Hab space is where new technologies can be tested and the latest in care can be offered in a space designed to expand independence and mobility and grow the happiness of all who participate and work here.”
“This organization has been a tremendous resource throughout New York State for over 75 years, providing quality care and compassionate services across the region. This is an opportunity not only to open this facility but to take a step back and pause and say thank you to each and every one of the individuals…at the facility for their work in the Hudson Valley,” said Frank M. Castella, Jr.
