Susan Constantino can never be forgotten and her work has had a monumental impact on the field and among the people we support. She has worked both locally and legislatively to ensure more comprehensive opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families to live fulfilling lives.

For 33 years, Susan has been a change-maker, a dynamic advocate, and a friend to the field and the people we support.

I have had the honor to work with people with disabilities and their families and the most amazing staff throughout my whole career. Together we created programs and opportunities and changed public opinion and government responsibility. Together we made a difference. UCP of NYS and the wonderful folks we support and my colleagues and staff who work tirelessly each day have been my inspiration and my love.” – Susan Constantino

In recognition, CP Unlimited held a number of events to honor her career, and we invite you to enjoy these programs online.

June 24: The organization hosted a program with close to 70 guests in Lower Manhattan, featuring thanks from fellow leaders in the I/DD field. Recognitions included the naming of June 24 as “Susan Constantino Day” in Manhattan and Staten Island, while the Borough Presidents of Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx all sent Citations honoring Susan Constantino for her many years of public service.

Speakers include: Ross Levin, Tom Mandelkow, Joseph Pancari, Ed Matthews, Arthur Webb, Mike Alvaro, and Senator John Mannion.

See the photos, two-part tribute video from leaders in the I/DD field, and the recording of the remarks from our in-person luncheon:

June 28: CP employees and friends gathered in our Central Office to say thank you to Susan Constantino for her guidance and recognize her for all of the many years of teamwork and leadership. Many chose to deliver personal messages which are included in the video below, and we surprised Susan by dedicating the training room in her name. Joseph Pancari, our incoming President & CEO, and Virginia Zelhof, Director of Training, helped reveal the new plaques which read:

The Susan Constantino Training Room is named for CP Unlimited’s former President & CEO who served the organization for 33 years with steady, compassionate leadership.

In recognition of her deep commitment to ongoing education and work promoting opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve fulfilling lives, we dedicated this employee training room in Susan’s name.

May her legacy always be reflected in this space where skills, knowledge, and inspiration are shared with our community.

Enjoy the memories shared by CP Unlimited staff at our special team celebration:
