The annual CP State Conference is an opportunity for team members to connect with affiliates from throughout the CP affiliate network and build on new ideas to benefit the field. With a renewed sense of momentum, the 2022 theme was “On Track for Success” calling to mind both the advancements and achievements of the past year and the history of Saratoga and horse racing.

For the CP Unlimited team, it was also an occasion to celebrate several of our family recognized by leadership with special awards and honors. The applause extends to them from the entire CP network:

Virginia “Ginny” Zelhof, CP’s Director of Training, was recognized with the Natalie Rogers Employee of the Year Award honoring her decades-long work educating, inspiring, and leading the ongoing instruction of literal generations of CP employees. From the nomination text: “Having recently celebrated 40 years with the agency, she embodies the disability field’s rich history, having worked on the grounds at Willowbrook and, today, training the next generation of people who use that legacy as inspiration for their work. As CP Unlimited's Director of Training, Ginny has trained thousands of employees, ensuring that new staff have the foundation to give people supported the best quality of care. …She is a tireless advocate for people with disabilities, encouraging them to follow their dreams and passions, no matter how small or impossible they may seem to achieve. She is a role model not only to the people supported at CP Unlimited, but to every level of staff in the organization.”

You can see her congratulations video online, or below, which also includes the full text of her nomination.

In addition, attendees — and all at CP — applaud Maureen Doherty, Executive Assistant Supervisor, Ronald Hetsberger, Direct Care Counselor, Ruby Rodriguez, Billing Specialist, and Craig Swedin, Facilities Manager (not pictured), as well as Rhonda Powell-Ashe, Residential QIDP, Frederick Byron, Habilitation Specialist, Sheila Banks-Pitcher, Habilitation Specialist, and Laura Herdman, Residential DSP (the latter two not pictured) who received Staff Recognition Awards for their ceaseless dedication and efforts on behalf of the people we support and the Agency.

We also happily highlight the inclusion of a gorgeous photo of flowers by Frank Ferebee, a member of the Progressive Visions Photo Club, in the CP State exhibit of artwork by persons supported.
